Washington, DC, USA
President James Barlow plunged headlong into the Potomac, heavy stones tied around both wrists. The biting current pinched his sixty-five-year-old heart. Each beat thumped inside his skull as his brain fought to detach from its stem, squeeze through an ear canal, and float to the surface.
